Jurisdiction: Ireland and UK

 

Location: Hybrid with an optional office base from one of our locations (Waterford/Charleville/Rathdowney/Kilbeggan/Kildare/Slane)


Role Description: As part of the Dawn Meats’ Sustainability Team, work with internal and external subject matter experts, suppliers, customers and industry to maintain and
enhance our Sustainability Strategy, which supports our overall business strategy and improves resilience. Contribute to the achievement of our goals and objectives by maintaining current work streams and developing new climate, water and biodiversity initiatives, reporting progress annually against our company targets.

 

Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Propose and enhance sustainability strategies and policies in conjunction with internal subject matter experts which support Dawn Meats’ Business Strategy and
    enhance its resilience.
  • Support and champion progress across the 4 pillars of the sustainability strategy, Plan Four Zero, and lead annual reviews and materiality assessments to determine
    their continuing relevance.
  • Stay up to date on all key policies and standards related to climate, water and biodiversity, prepare regular updates explaining the impact on our business and
    supply chains and provide feedback via open consultations.
  • Represent Dawn Meats on various external expert working groups, to provide practical insights in support of new and proposed frameworks, polices, standards
    and solutions, to ensure same are deliverable for the food industry.
  • Continuously monitor external trends and competitor activity across our markets and propose new ideas and initiatives to maintain leadership in sustainability.
  • Represent Dawn Meats by attending industry, business and social events, always presenting a professional image on behalf of the company.
  • Form strong working relationships and communicate effectively with each business department, namely Operations, Environment, Human Resources, Agriculture,
    Engineering, Finance, Transport, Procurement, Technical and Sales.
  • Support the modelling and validation of Dawn Meats’ climate, water and biodiversity targets, engaging with organisations such as the Science-Based Targets Initiative.
  • Coordinate and propose new ideas for an updated climate transition plan, to include mitigation and adaption measures across Scope 1, 2 and 3, FLAG and non-FLAG.
  • Support the modelling and verification of Dawn Meats’ product carbon footprints, working with external stakeholders to ensure alignment with the latest standards
  • Working with the Environmental and Agriculture Teams, develop water and biodiversity strategies for the UK and Ireland, identifying projects, initiatives and partners to engage with to support and improve water quality and biodiversity across our sites, communities and farms.
  • Take responsibility for coordinating and writing the Dawn Meats Group annual sustainability report, simultaneously updating the Plan Four Zero website.
  • Take responsibility for coordinating and writing the Dawn Meats Ireland annual Origin Green Report, liaising with Bord Bia and the external auditor to ensure the report is in line with the latest guidance, standards and requirements.
  • Take responsibility for coordinating and submitting the EcoVadis sustainability audit for Dawn Meats Group UC.
  • Plan and attend meetings with customer teams to undertake business reviews, share insights, share agreed information etc. and ensure that the customer recognises the value of the interaction, and obtains optimum satisfaction from the service provided.
  • Regularly report information and progress to the Group Sustainability Director and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Take responsibility for the performance and development of direct reporting colleagues and liaise with senior management to maintain a productive team environment.
  • Act exclusively on behalf of Dawn Meats representing the company’s professional interests, maintaining confidentiality and conducting oneself within the culture, code of behaviour, mission, values and ethics of the company.
  • Promote and protect the interests of Dawn Meats and/or any associated company, always sharing the full benefit of acquired knowledge and expertise and not knowingly or deliberately doing anything which is to its detriment.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Sustainability, Agriculture, Environment, Policy, Economics or Business, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in a sustainability role within the food sector is preferred
