Location: Group Offices, Grannagh, Co. Waterford

 

Dawn Meats Group is one of Europe’s leading beef and lamb processing companies with locations across Ireland, UK, France, and continental Europe employing over 8,000 employees.

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Group Accountant to join our Group Finance team. This role plays a key part in delivering accurate and timely consolidated financial reporting on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. The successful candidate will also contribute to key strategic projects, sustainability reporting initiatives, and support the business with tax compliance and audit processes. This is an excellent opportunity for a high performing individual to broaden their skills and experience with a growing and dynamic group.

Role Summary:

 

As part of the Group Finance team, you will gain a wide range of finance, operations, and business experience. The role whilst based in our head office in Waterford may give you the opportunity to occasionally travel to sites around the group.

 

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be based in our Grannagh offices and will be responsible for:

 

Monthly and Quarterly Consolidation

  • Prepare accurate and timely consolidated management accounts for internal reporting.
  • Work closely with subsidiaries and regional finance teams to ensure data accuracy and timely submissions.

 

Year-End Consolidation and Financial Statements

  • Be involved in the preparation of annual consolidated financial statements.
  • Coordinate and liaise with external auditors to ensure a smooth year-end audit process.

 

Audit and Internal Controls

  • Assist external auditors during interim and year-end audits by providing timely and accurate information, supporting documentation and explanations as required.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and group accounting policies.

 

Sustainability Reporting

  • Support the development and delivery of sustainability and ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) reporting frameworks.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather and verify non-financial reporting data.

 

Tax Compliance

  • Assist with group-wide tax reporting requirements, including corporate tax computations, VAT compliance, and transfer pricing documentation.
  • Coordinate with external advisors and local teams on tax filings.

 

Project Involvement

  • Actively contribute to finance-related projects including process improvements and system implementations.
  • Provide support with acquisition accounting for any future business combinations.
  • Take ownership of ad hoc initiatives as they arise, providing financial insight and analysis to support decision-making.

 

Qualifications

Your role will see you tackle a wide range of business challenges in a busy accounting department
The ideal Candidate will have or demonstrate the following qualifications: 

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).

 

Skills, Experience & Competencies:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to communicate and interact with people at all levels across the group.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and develop team members.
  • Technically competent with the ability to interpret the implications of standards to practical situations.
  • Strong internal control & system understanding with a problem-solving mentality.
  • Self-motivated and proactive with a focus on detail and bringing structure and logic to problem solving.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to manage issues and solutions in a proactive manner.
  • Attention to detail to ensure completeness and accuracy of information.
  • Advanced Excel skills and general proficiency in IT systems.
  • Experience of ERP systems & Business Intelligence tools (Qlikview or others) an advantage, but not essential.
