Job Description: Operations Student Placement Programme 2026

 

Location: We offer placements at multiple sites across Ireland, including Grannagh (Co. Waterford) Ballyhaunis (Co. Mayo) Charleville (Co. Cork) Kildare town (Co. Kildare)

 

Job type: Full time, 6-month Fixed Term Contract with a possibility to extend further.

 

Remuneration: This is a paid placement position that comes with a financial bursary.

Responsibilities

Role Summary:
Dawn Meats are running a professional work experience programme in order to give 3rd level students the opportunity to gain experience in a fast-paced, manufacturing environment. The idea of the placement is to allow the successful candidates to experience the day-to-day operations of a meat processing factory and to gain skills that will be transferable as they venture into the workplace following the completion of their 3rd level course. This placement programme will encompass project work that will enhance your knowledge of the industry and will allow you to see your work implemented in the production environment.

The successful candidate will be based in our primary production will gain experience in the following areas.

  • Boning Hall
  • Abattoir
  • Commercial Sales Office
  • Lairage/Cattle Procurement
  • Loading Bay
  • Coldstore
  • Despatch/Transport
  • Health and Safety
  • Human Resources

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess the below Skills & Attributes:

  • Excellent organisation skills and time management.
  • Ability to take ownership of queries/issues, bringing them to a successful conclusion.
  • Enthusiastic attitude to the challenge of the role with a positive can-do approach to tasks.
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Candidate must be able to work with others in cross-functional role & environment.
  • Good IT Skills.
