Dawn Meats have opportunities for a Lairage Assistant to join our team in Rathdowney Co. Laois. The lairage position will require you to be responsible for the receiving and storage of animals in accordance with animal welfare guidelines and legislation. The successful candidate will be part of the Lairage Team helping meet production targets whilst maintaining total traceability and legislative compliance.

The successful candidate will be based at our Dawn Meats Rathdowney production plant and will be responsible for:

• Unloading livestock and counting deliveries to ensure they match the accompanying paperwork.
• Assessing stock deliveries to highlight any problem animals.
• Booking deliveries on to the computer and printing traceability information.
• Transferring animals to holding pens prior to slaughter.
• Maintaining a clean working environment within the Lairage daily.

Your role will see you tackle a wide range of business challenges in a busy lairage environment.

The ideal Candidate will have or demonstrate

• The successful candidate will have experience of handling livestock.
• Possess good communication skills.
• Good level of numeracy skills.
• The ability to work with limited supervision and as part of a team.
• Computer literate in the MS Office packages.
• Committed to working within the Company Values
